Throughout the year the FCN organises and supports a number of events.

As you probably know, FCN had begun to make plans for the Furzedown Festival this year, but this was overtaken by the COVID outbreak. We had in any case concluded earlier in the year that it would not be possible to run the Big Day Out, this year at least, because of high and increasing costs.

The Christmas market will not happen this year due to the uncertainty of the situation.

We are thinking in the meantime of ways in which we can help promote community in Furzedown while larger events are not possible – perhaps (for example) by using Zoom. If you have any suggestions about what we might do, we would be very glad to hear them – either on the chat group, or by emailing me (peter.ramell@btinternet.com).

The main events are the festival with its main attractions,

The Summer Festival is a programme of events, talks, garden gigs and other events

The Big Day Out has always been the centre of the Festival.  In 2020 even before the pandemic it had been decided to pause the event this year.

The final event of the Festival is normally Jazz on the Lawn at Streatham Bowling club

And the Christmas Market marks the end of the year

The Foodbank is open every Thursday at St Pauls Church – Donations can be brought to St Paul’s church at the corner of Welham/Chillerton every Thursday between 10am-noon. There are also drop off boxes at Furzedown Primary and Penwortham schools – we are keen to build up some reserves of food as these two sources of donations will end when school breaks up. Donations can also be taken to all local churches and Sprout Arts on Moyser Road.

    1. Gill – no we are not planning a market this year – I will confirm that after a meeting on Sunday.
