The Great Get Together

This weekend is the national Great Get Together day in memory of the death of Jo Cox, at the Big Day Out  the Furzedown Labour Party will have a stall where they will be offering free ribbons in several colours. There will be pens and the idea is to write a positive message. It could be a statement such as ‘ For the many not the few’ or ‘We have more in common than divides us’ or a wish/action such as ‘end food banks’, ‘Hug a firefighter’ or ‘ I’m going to do more to help my elderly neighbours’. The choice really is yours.
The idea grew from the positivity people felt after the election results last week. Everyone we spoke to had a sense of hope that the UK might alter its course to a more compassionate one.

Come to the stall on Saturday and write a ribbon of hope and add it to the other ribbons on the outside of the tennis courts. When you leave the Big Day Out, please take it and tie it somewhere where people can see it, such as your gate or bush. Eventually the sun and rain will make you wish fade but it won’t be forgotten because your ribbon will still be there and everyone will know it carried a message of hope.
